Wow, Am I Actually Learning

Evening all

So, I cooked another chinese, beef in batter. It was really nice and I didnt have batter. I am quite amazed with myself that I resisted but considering how much pain I was in, it should be the norm.

I am not losing weight at the moment, lots of walking, eating good carbs, I cant seem to lose but I am enjoying my food and just need to walk a bit faster I think to burn the fat.

I was quite pleased with myself, I bought a gert big cabbage the other day, had half left.  Today I bought a large carrot and a bunch of spring onions. Added coleslaw mayo and mustard and jobs a goodun, a massive bowl of coleslaw for 92p. I have aleady had it with 2 meals, recon I have enough for 4ish more at least (or I hope).

Have a good evening x

If it werent for those pesky kids lol

Evening

Today was going well until my 8 year old daughter decided to cook, BUT she wanted to do it,with no help, obviously I did the oven bit and watched but she made yorkshire pudding and cake

I had the smallest slither of cake and a tiny bit of yorkshire pud.  How could I not when my little mini me made them, and they were worth the carbs. She did so well and am so proud that she can make a darn good cake ;-)

But apart from that I have had bacon, strawberries, salad, veg, chicken and chicken skin :D so alls good!

So very Very Wrong

Afternoon all

Remember my pork balls on Thursday,  ok for an occasional treat? NO NO NO, by the time I went to bed I was so bloated, I put on 3lbs :o and I am still bloated with a tender belly 2 days later so no, no occasional treat is worth that, unless its chocolate ;-)

Back on track yesterday and today, drinking water to try to reduce the bloating and never eating batter again!

Fakeaway kebab for tea with lots of salad for me.  :D

Have a good weekend

eeeekkk but it could have been worse

Evening

For tea tonight I made fakeaway chinese.  Was gert lush and so cheap, was £2.01 for 5 of us but was a tad high carb.

I had battered ( :D ) pork balls and a huge amount of stir fry, broccoli,  cabbage, onion, carrot and peppers, and I had 1 prawn cracker. I also cooked noodles for everyone else. Am totally stuffed now. And I know I will regret the batter later but it was so nice as an occasional treat and could have been worse, I could have had noodles and more prawn crackers or bought chinese :o

Think I need a nap lol

So Easy and Tasty

Hiya

So the kids did meal plan this week and today was leftover chicken and leftover pepperoni pasta bake. Obviously I couldn't have that so I raided the freezer.  Carrots, onion, green beans and peppers, chicken and pepperoni a little bit of white sauce, topped with stilton and mature cheddar.  Gert lush!

Going to try making crispy green beans tomorrow.

Have a good one.

Healthy Low Carb Snack

Hiya

So, pumpkins, or more precisely pumpkin seeds. The kids carved their pumpkins for halloween, I saved the seeds.

I cleaned, mixed 1 lot with olive oil, salt and 5 spice and the other lot with olive oil, salt and chilli peppers. And roasted for 15 mins. Just had the 5 spice and the kids loved it. I dont think they will like the chilli though so they are all mine lol even the hubby who turned his nose up at them said they were nice. A healthy snack the kids like!! :o

I also made spiced crab apple chutney. Saving that for xmas as way to high for a normal day lol

Hubby making tea, burgers, am guessing the only side will be chips so good job I have my chilli seeds for snacking later :D

And I have 5 seeds left for growing next year, now just need to find cheap pumpkins until then!

Have a good one

You have got to try this

Afternoon all

Well I tried the new recipe and OMG it is now my favourite lunch.  This is the original recipe http://www.lowcarbzen.com/low-carb-recipes/main-courses/spicy-low-carb-crack-slaw/

I didnt have all the ingredients so I browned some mince and onion, then added 2 tablespoons chopped toms, a squirt of tom puree. Cooked that for a bit in pan then added chilli flakes, bit of Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce. Then I added the cabbage and grated carrot and cooked for a bit longer. Done! Cant wait to try it with bacon bits. As you can see I added cheese and had mayo with it. Lovely :D

Need to look up what to do with pumpkin seeds now, kids have got loads for me out of the pumpkins.

Eeeeeek a high low carb day

Evening

I am really enjoying my food at the moment so even though its quite high for a low carb diet, as I am not putting on weight I will continue to eat better carbs rather than the lowest.

B - fruit
l - chicken, sweetcorn, onion, omelette type thing.
t - low carb lasagne with peas and carrots

Look what I bought today. 49p each, I found the biggest :D

Am planning on using half for sunday (hubby will be pleased) and the rest for lunch for me this week. Got a recipe I want to try, will give details when I make it.

Hiya

So todays pizza just ended up a pile of goo on my plate. Did not work as well as last weeks, which is here. Eeeepppp its letting me upload pictures :D

Todays food

Breakfast - apple and satsuma

I costed out tea tonight, bit of a habbit I am trying to get into to save money, for all our pizzas for 5 -

And I will be partaking in a small (large lol) glass of wine later. :D

Have a good one.

who'd have thought

Evening all

well, whilst perusing some low carb blogs the other day I saw mention of something made with protein powder. Now, baring in mind I have some but didnt get on with the shakes, this was quite exciting news. So after a bit of googling I found rolls. Egg and protein powder. Was a bit dry but ok.

Still can't upload photos :(

Today I have had fruit salad for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch and piri piri pulled chicken with lots of veg and a low carb bun for tea. Am totally stuffed

Walked a fair bit today. Would like to lose those pesky pounds soon lol

Have a good one

Wednesday 22 October 2014

Ah well

Evening all

Well I did lose 3lbs. I have managed to put a 2 back on. Not sure how but never mind. I am still eating fruit for breakfast and even bananas but am thinking of cutting them out just in case

Today I even had lentils.  Wonder if I will put on the other pound now lol

So I costed out my meal today. Less than £2 to feed 4 of us. Lots of veggies mixed into the bolognaise and I had green beans instead of pasta. Was lovely

I am on my phone and, quite frankly, it's doing my head in. Will try to sort out tablet now I think before I throw my phone out the window

Have a good evening

t - will be homemade donner kebab, I will wrap mine in lettuce, with salad. It is so easy to make, lamb mince (whoopsied for a quid) with some herbs mixed in, put in foil, whack in slow cooker on low for 6 hours. Jobs a goodun. Everyine else having whoopsied pittas with theirs. I do love a cheap healthy meal.

Thursday 16 October 2014

well if the boy likes it, it must be good....

Evening all

Still walking, eating well, loving life lol

Today was lasagne. Obviously I cant have pasta so I used aubergine instead. My youngest doesnt like the pasta sheets in lasagne so I said he could have mine and I would take out the aubergine if he didnt like it. He loved it!

B - fruit salad
l - chorizo with roasted veg
t - aubergine lasagne (even got another portion in freezer)

I also managed a fair bit of walking and carrying heavy bags so thats good, although I didnt think so at the time!

Have a good evening

Eeeessssh 9lbs

Good Evening

I think the title says it all. I have put on 9lbs but in my defence I was on holiday for a week, all inclusive and the only time I moved from the sunbed was to the bar or snack bar. I tried to be good, no potatoes or bread or pasta but I did have some desserts and omg turkish pancakes, and the very sugary cocktails.

So back on track today. Stocked up on fruit, veg, salad, was weightlifting carrying it home lol and walked 10 miles today.

B - fruit salad
l - chorizo with roasted veg
t - gert big sausage roll without the roll and salad

Cant stop yawning, nite nite

Monday 29 September 2014

Wow, Who'd Have Thought

Hiya

So, its been a while. I have been eating lots of yummy food, including lots of fruit, I am walking an average of 10 miles a day and still wearing my red lippy ;-)

And the result of this, I have lost 5lbs  :o

And all this on a budget. Which means some of my choices are shocking for a low carb diet. For example, I now eat fruit for breakfast as apparently its easier to digest, fruit is expensive except when you find it whoopsie and then its usually bananas. So I have been eating bananas.  Good carbs. I did get lucky last week and was able to buy courgettes, peppers and plums for 25p a pack. Result!

Tomorrow is payday so I will be off to lidl after the school run and buying lots of fruit and veg. But until then I have to manage on what I have.

B - bananas and apples
L - Mediterranean veg in tomato based sauce recipe below
T - roast chicken with broccoli,  cabbage and carrots

I know jars are easy but they are high carb and contain nasties. So make your own if possible. My tomato sauce today was half a tin toms (might try with reals ones tomorrow) garlic, onion and herbs. Fry the garlic and onion, add toms and herbs and when cooked use, you can even use a blender for a smooth sauce, ideal for pizzas. I just chucked it over my frozen veg, courgette, peppers, onion and a bit of meat, in oven for half an hour, bit of cheese on top, another 10 mins and bosh, this

Good healthy delicious food.

And I do feel so much better this way of eating so am happy to keep eating fruit although will try to avoid bananas where possible.

Why Do I Do It

Hiya

Had a major baking session today, made chocolate bourbons, banana breakfast bars and apple pie. I cant eat any of it lol

B huge omelette with bacon, sausages, tomato, cheese and onion.
L far too stuffed
T roast pork with crackling, cabbage and carrots

Then watched them devour the apple pie.

But at least thats gone, most of the bourbons are going into hubbies work and rest for lunch boxes this week. And I am sure the breakfast biscuits wont last long with my lot.

How Lazy

Evening all

Its been a funny old week with my parents here. We went out for a meal friday, chicken with salad, and had bbq saturday and another meal today, mixed grill and the kids had my chips as the kids meals were rediculously small. And the kids have been out for all you can eat breakfast yesterday and today, and lunch yesterday. Which is why I am lazy. Yesterday I was up at 7.30, couldnt sleep, went shopping for aldi super 6 after kids went out. Today, however, hubby gave the kids to mum and I stayed in bed and didnt get up until midday so my mixed grill was actually breakfast! Shocking lol

Got a really nice meal plan this week. Just need to avoid the biscuits my eldest asked me to make lol

Sal x

Thursday 11 September 2014

Aaaaaahhhhh and it continues

Evening all

After my naughty fish and chips last night, the pain has continued all day and only just stopped. I have drunk a few peppermint teas in the hope my belly reduces (sadly bloating doesnt seem to be why my belly is big, ah well, worth a try lol)

B - cheese and onion omelette
L - chicken and chorizo with Mediterranean veg
T - chilli beef stew with green beans

Kids chose green beans and yes there is half a cheese scone on my plate, and yes I did eat the other half, but it was small and did have a lot of cheese in :D I hope it wont effect me like the chips.

A One Off!

Evening all

So this morning I decided to put on a posh frock, bit of mascara and my red lippy for the school run and I felt fabulous even with the extra pounds.  So my aim is to make more of an effort in myself and when/if I lose the weight then great but until then be happy in myself. I will be still low carbing, obviously, and enjoying it.

B - cheese and tomato omelette
L - chicken and chorizo with Mediterranean veg, was delicious

T - and this is the one off, I had real fish and chips from a real fish and chip shop, it was gert lush but definatly a one off, been having stomach pains for the last hour and my mouth is still coated with fat. So a nice treat, maybe to be repeated next year lol

Time to google something to do with the diced beef I have.

Sal x

Quality rather than Lowest

Hiya

I was reading an article the other day about low carbing. It was basically sayong not all carbs are equal and you should got for the healthiest as apposed to the lowest carb. For example eating pork scratchings instead of green beans because they are lower carb. Obviously geen beans is the healthiest choice and it did make me think about how I view food as that is probably what I would do.

But no more. I am going to make more of an effort to make healthier choices even if it means slightly higher carbs. And I am not counting carbs per say, I am going to try to stick with lower carb veg but as long as its veg and not something like potatoes then maybe not worry as much. See how that works.

B - cheese and tomato omelette
L - cauliflower covered in a homemade tomato sauce with chorizo
T - chicken in greek yogurt,  garlic and chilli marinade with cheese on top and green beans. Here it is

Delicious.  Eveyone else had pasta as well in theirs. And everyone ate it :D

Sal x

Monday 8 September 2014

And Relax......

Evening all

School holidays are over, can get back into routines and normal bed times.  :D

I am still the same weight. Cant lose it althouh am thinking the biscuits and cake dont help. But both of my sons had birthdays and I am darn good at making cakes lol

So back on track properly today except for making sure the homemade hobnob wasnt burnt, sssshhhhhh doesnt count when its quality control lol

B - cheese, tomato,  ham and onion omelette
L - left over spicy pork and veg thing
T - roast chicken and lots of veg

As you can see, I am lucky not to have put on weight lol

So no more cake!

In My Defence, it was Purple

Hiya

I think I have walked the kids well last week and today, last week 30 miles and another 10 today. I made a mince beef wellington which was really nice, I took the pastry off my bit lol

I have had potatoes but in my defence they are purple. The chips were purple/blue and the inside was blue. When boiled they turned blue, when I mixed with cheese to make cheesy mash it turned lilac and when vinegar was added it turned pink. MAGIC POTATOES.  I wish I could upload a picture but not letting me.

Walking and gardening are top of the list this week.  Hopefully I will lose weight, walking alone not helped.

Friday 25 July 2014

Made It

Hiya

Well we did it, 7 miles today which consisted of 3 parks, 1 skate park (that was a disaster) and lidl. I am so tired. Had to keep moving when we got home otherwise I would have fallen asleep.  I think the weekend will mostly be not walking and back to it next week.

B - omelette and bacon
L - ham salad and coleslaw
T - omelette pizza piled high with cheese, meat and veg

I am going to have  glass of wine when the kids go to bed £3.99 in lidl chardonnay so hopefully not too bad carbwise and taste wise.  And we are celebrating hubby's first week with him being told they have had lots of positive feedback. So thats good.

Why are the kids still awake, she should be knackered!!!!!!! Like me :o

Are The School Holidays Over Yet

Evening

More walking today. Lots more walking. Six miles in fact.  That makes 17 miles in 3 days. And then this afternoon we played waterbomb cricket, all this and cleaning and baking buns. I am worn out,  this entertaining kids should be getting easier as they are getting older, not harder!!!!!

B - slowcooker breakfast casserole
L - ham, salad and coleslaw
T - had bbq so lots of meat! I didnt have the energy to make salad lol

Short and sweet tonight.  I need to sleep, we are trying for 7 miles tomorrow :o

Sal x

Wednesday 23 July 2014

Just The 5 Today

Evening all

It was very cloudy today so plans to play water bomb cricket were put on hold. Instead we walked to 2 different parks and to lidl. Managed 5 miles. Aiming for 6 tomorrow ;-)

B - bacon and stilton, dehydrated peppers and dehydrated tomatoes omelette
L - ham and coleslaw
T - gammon, salad and coleslaw

I know I am eating a lot of coleslaw but I need to eat it before it goes off. The sourkrout is going well, but that will last longer anyway (a few months) so wont be for nearly every meal.

Going to try to beat 6 miles tomorrow although the kids will hate me lol but on the plus side my youngest is asleep as soon as is head hits the pillow :D

Sal x

Tuesday 22 July 2014

Six Miles

Evening all

School holidays means entertaining kids. Hubby has the car which means walking everywhere.  So my day consisted of walking. Managed 6 miles today :o Am aching now and its onky going to get worse tomorrow. But we did manage to walk to shop (ice cream was the bribe) and then we walked to the beach, paddled, walked some more, picnic, paddled and walked before walking home.

B - breakfast casserole
L - peperami - wasnt really hungry as huge breakfast
T - chicken fajitas woth homemade coleslaw and salad

I bought a huge cabbage yesterday for 49p and used it to make a huge amount of coleslaw and 2 jars of sourkrout. Its surprisingly easy, cabbage and salt! Need to wait a few days to see what its like.

Think I need a nap lol

German Food

Evening all

Ok, so I was a bit naughty with tea, it was German night and we had schnitzel,  sauerkraut and potato and bacon salad.

Obviously I didnt eat the potatoes. But I am really impressed with the sauerkraut I made this afternoon, will find a proper recipe for it and make more.

B - greek yogurt with blueberries
L - omelette with cheese, salami, onion, dehydrated toms and dehydrated pepper.
T - German night

My secret weapon arrived today. We are down to 1 car so when hubby starts work on Monday we have to walk everywhere. The plan is walking to the beach, around half an hour, taking the dogs and a picnic in this my secret weapon,  my new backpack. Lots of walking.

Am looking forward to next week.

Hiya

L - apple and cheese (end of week using stuff up)
T - bbq, I had finest burger no bun, ribs, skewers, sausages, I was too lazy to make salad, naughty I know

But i have enjoyed my food. And strawberries and cream for breakfast, loves it :D

In My Defence......

Evening

So my birthday festivities are over.  I have indulged rather more than I planned but in my defence my husband made me a cake. The first ever cake he has cooked me in 15 years of being together

How can I not eat this masterpiece.

So its all over now. Foodwise back on low carb, alcohol wise tomorrow is friday and we still have some cider left from last weekend. Sunday will be no alcohol until the following friday at earliest, mil visiting so i think I may indulge.

I have ordered a backpack. Now that hubby working from monday and we are down to one working car, I think days at beach with dogs and football and of course a picnic, hope it arrives soon. Lots of walking, playing football and mucky tired out kids, what more do you want during school holidays. Am looking forward to it.

Ok so hubby went for interview today and got the job. Yay, go hubby. I am so relieved. We can afford to pay bills, eat better although not been doing bad, and maybe save a bit for emergencies.

So we are having wine and we had chinese, hubbies choice.

I am so happy.  And yes I am still on a budget as not earning that much lol but can sleep better in the knowledge we can pay our mortgage :D

And back on it goes

Evening all

Yet again real life has gotten in the way, my 3 lb loss from last week has piled straight back on again. But it was worth it. We went to Silverstone to watch the grand prix, it was amazing, we had such a brilliant time. I stuck to low carb with food but may have over indulged on the cider and wine front. Ah well, back to it today.

B - greek yogurt with strawberries
L - stilton omelette
T - chicken with salad

I did manage a fair bit of walking at the weekend but largely due to the VIP shuttle parking 2 miles away from the entrance so we had to much to hubby's disgust :D I even managed to get him to walk back to the campsite on the sunday, 5 miles :o

Still tired from the drive and the weekend shenanigans so an early night is in order.

Stocked Up

Evening all

Today was a bit expensive, stocked up on meat in farmfoods. I got chicken, gammon and lamb. Should last a while with  everything else we have in. Morrisons are doing a £5 free fruit and veg voucher in Thursdays The Sun. I am thinking of getting 3. 1 to use on Thursday as will need salad then and 2 for Saturday,  1 on the way into town to take the kids to a film and 1 on the way home. If nothing else I can buy stuff to dehydrate.

Talking of dehydrating,  this morning I put in bacon jerky and beef jerky using the mince. It all worked even the kids like it, darn it! Lol currently I am doing fresh beetroot and strawberries that my friend gave me and to fill up space some apples. Will all be ready in the morning I hope :D

B - greek yogurt with strawberries and blueberries
L - chicken salad
T - gammon with salad

I have drank around 3 oint of water, walked on 2 school runs, 1 dog walk and 2 youthy/dog walks. Both dogs are now snoring lol

Think I will scrub my hands again,  they are still pink from the beetroot.

T - fish with salad. And some chicken as the fish was ridiculously small

Oh and before I forget hubby as lost 10lbs. Am really plessed he has stuck to it and this has sperned him on to keep sticking to it.

More Jerky

Evening all

No I havent made any more jerky, just been finding recipes. I have found some with mince and sausage jerky so lots to try. Cant wait :D

Did my last shop of the week today, £10 in lidl, even got the bits for Slovakian night tomorrow. This week I have spent £16 and got £1 cashback. Next week will be more as I will need to buy fruit and want to stock up on the packs of chicken in farmfoods.

B - cheese and tomato omelette
L - chicken stir fry
T - spicy beef with salad made by hubby

I have drank 5 pints of water and walked for around 2.5 hrs. And only had 1 cup of tea.

Hubby still doing well, but we have visitors at weekend so need to plan so we dont fall off the wagon.

OMG The Mess

Evening all

I will not be making candied bacon again, the mess in my dehydrator was unreal, still got more to clean but got the most of it done. Is nice though lol but I think I will go back to the other recipe for bacon jerky as I preferred it chewy.

B - greek yogurt
L - lamb and chorizo with Mediterranean veg
T - pulled pork with salad

I have managed 4 pints of water and 2.5 hrs walking. Go me lol

Hubby cooking tomorrow, low carb :o so need to go through shoppung list, I have £13 to last until monday. Need milk, veg and fruit and more yogurt. Will see what we can get, if all else fails, I have plenty of bacon to snack on lol

Sal x

Tuesday 24 June 2014

Naughty, so very very naughty

Evening all

I ate the last of my bacon jerky today so obviously I needed to make more. I didnt write my timings down so I did a quick google and found candied bacon. So in my dehydrator I have candied bacon (bacon with brown sugar on) normal bacon jerky and bacon bits for salad topping. Cant wait for the morning to try it. Yes I know I shouldnt but it sounded so nice.

Hubby doing well, still walking and sticking to it, usually he cant get past day 1. I have managed 3, yes 3, pints of water which is good for me.

Roll on Friday, weigh in day, am feeling optimistic.

B - greek yogurt
L - lamb (leftover from Sunday), chorizo and Mediterranean veg
T - gammon with salad

I snacked on the last of the bacon jerky. And drank loads of water.

So a good day.

Bacon Now Beef

Good Evening

Last week in my dehydrator was beef jerky. I made 2 marinades, honey garlic and teriyaki.  They are both nice but my fav is teriyaki.  Although probability should find a low carb version :o  I was lucky that I bought the frying steak half price and prepared it straight away. It marinated in the sauce for 24 hours so I dont think it mattered having a cheap cut, I did cut off all the fat though.  Must keep my eyes peeled for more reduced beef as I really do love the jerky. Infact I will be making more bacon jerky tomorrow.

Finally it has happened. The hubby has agreed to do low carb. I did try not to look too happy about this, it does mean however I will probably need to be more inventive as he wont live on salads like I will.  I am even making our theme night low carb. This week we are having Slovakian food. I will be replacing the potato with sweet potato and using less, may even add some cauliflower.  I hope it works. And the best bit, I have most of the ingredients in luckily as my shopping budget this week is £20.  £6 was spent today on salad, veg, milk and apple juice for the kids. I think I did well and i didnt deviate from my list. Now to try to stay away from shops for a few days.

Almost forgot, I am trying to walk everywhere and today so did hubby :o I really hope he can stick to it.

Am feeling hopeful.

In true Homer Style I am Drooling

Evening all

As you know my dehydrator has been used a fair bit. I love it. Today I used the egg I dehydrated last night to make omelette, quite impressted but not really something I will do a lot although may be good for baking.  This morning I made bacon jerky. The house smelt devine and the bacon, well, the only way I can truly describe it is 'gert lush'.  I only used the last of the open pack so today (which has been eaten, mainly by me) I bought 3 more packs, and then went out and got another 2. 2 packs are now cooling after being dehydrated. Got my jar ready. And I have also been looking at beef jerky so may start marinating some beef tomorrow.

B - ham, cheese and tomato omelette
L - nothing really I just sort of tasted my dehydrated food
T - chicken with salad

I have eaten bacon and kale crisps this evening, hubby has eaten a family sized bag of normal crisps.

I have briskly walked on both school runs and one of my shopping trips. I will lose the weight.

Am feeling stuffed now, maybe dehydrated food expands in the belly????

Must be time for bed. Have a lovely evening.

OMG Bacon Jerky

Evening

Well, I am still here, still trying. Only managed up to day 12 of the abs challenge. Might try to start up again tomorrow.

My cucumber in the dehydrator was really nice. Today I made kale crisps which again are really nice, I did also make some lucky charms for the kids as well which they loved. At present I have beetroot chips, pineapple chunks and eggs in there. Tomorrow I am making bacon jerky, yes thats right, bacon jerky. Mmmmmmmm

These are the cucumber and kale chips

We had Brazil night last night, so I made low carb (and carby) and it was lovely.

We had a mince dish, chicken dish and kale and mango salad, all of which was really nice. Ss well as wedges and a potaoe dish that I think would be nice made with cauliflower.

So tomorrow I need to try harder with the exercise. Lots of walking and maybe a dance off with the kids after school lol I must lose this stone, or at least half of it.

Ups and Downs

Hiya

Its been a funny few weeks. Put on weight, lost weight, put it back on. Been bad, been strict and as of today I am back to needing to lose a stone.

I am also doing a 30 days abs challenge on facebook. I am ok so far but it does hurt so not sure I am physically able to complete it but I will try. I am walking loads and last week was so strict and still didnt lose.  Very disheartening.  But I need to pick myself up and tell myself what I would tell someone else, keep going, you can do it, etc etc.

A bit of exciting news (I find it exciting, not sure anyone else does) I got a dehydrator.  I love it. I only got it last week and have already made apple, apple and cinnamon leather, banana chips, kiwi, pineapple and currently in there cucumber seasoned with chilli and garlic.  Cant wait to try them.

I have had some really nice food in the past few weeks, I made low carb mexican casserole for mexican day we had saturday, even hubby has cooked me low carb food. In honour of the football, this Saturday we are eating brazilian food. I have already found 2 low carb mains, salad and will do a carby side for the family.  Oh and my low carb mexican casserole beat hubbies main and didnt last long. :D

I am getting better at omelette pizza, hardly broke this one :D

These are hubby's low carb meals and yes I know they are high carb for me but he did try.

And this is mexican night

So busy, eating good food. Just need to keep it up. Must check on my cucumber :D

Mmmmmm Hairy, Yum, Bork

Hiya

Another good day, its been sunny and we have walked quite a lot. I have had 25 carbs and really enjoyed my food.

B - strawberries, grapes and greek yogurt
L - ham, chicken and cheese omelette
T- chicken wrapped In  bacon covered in cheese with huge salad

I am now having real pork scratchings bought from the weigh shop. They are so nice but I just cant eat the hairy ones, one had more hair than my hubby!!!!!!!! :o

I just hope the bucket of salty pork scratchings wont effect weight loss, they should be carb free.  Best stop eating them soon.

Have a good one.

I Want, l want, I want

Hiya

OMG OMG OMG I stumbled across a threat on mse the other day about dehydrators.  Looked quite interesting, dried fruit for hubby and kids to snack on, dog treats and of course sun dried tomatoes. But then I startrd looking into it more. You can dehydrate veg, keep in bag in cupboard and use when needed. How easy is that when bunging stuff in slow cooker. I also have the issue of my 2 freezers being full, I wanted to buy the 5kg of onions in lidl but no room to store them, a dehydrator could solve that problem. So will be hinting lots to hubby, he has 2 months before my birthday to get the hint. That is unless I succumb to temptation and order it myself ;-)

B - strawberries,  blueberries and greek yoghurt
L - pulled pork and cheese omelette
T - roast beef with lots of veg and I will be having a small slice of hubbies dessert as tomorrow is 20 carbs and lots of walking.

As I may have mentioned by husband doesnt like low carb, he preferes low fat. Last week he was having homemade fruit smoothie for breakfast, cheese omelette for lunch and same tea as me except with a small amount of potatoe. He lost 4lbs. His heartburn totally stopped. Yesterday he had a bread roll and his heartburn got bad. If that doesnt convince him to cut down his carbs (mainly bread) I dont know what will!!!!!

Wish me luck for tomorrow

Carb Binge

Hiya

Ok not quite a carb binge. I am upping my carbs this weekend and monday right down to 20. See if shocking my body will lose weight, well there is  a heat wave coming ;-)

B - apple, pear and grapes with greek yogurt
L - omeltte
T - very very very thin crust pizza

Not walked enough today. Challenging kids to dance off tomorrow. Got a cook off with hubby over chicken nuggets,  sad arent we lol and its eurovision.  What a day lol

Whats Going on With That.........

Evening all

Busy day today but a good one until this evening........

B - ham, cheese, onion and tomato omelette
L - apple and greek yoghurt
T - hubby made carby chicken but I had salad with mine

Then this evening,........ wine then shoved a bar of chocolate in my gob. When I used to eat choc I would savour every bite, let it melt on my tongue.  But tonight I barely tasted it I ate it so fast. So, normal food I am enjoying more as not filling up on tasteless carbs, chocolate I am not enjoying as I inhale it to quick.  Somethjng wrong there.......

Pork Pork Pork Pork

Evening all

I had the pulled pork for tea, I cheated and used a shop bought bbq sauce,  naughty me, but was very nice.

B - apple with greek yoghurt
L - spicy sausage, cheese and onion omelette
T - pulled pork and salad and here it is

I have walked on school run and taken dogs out this evening and hubby joined me. This is good as he needs to walk more but bad as I cant brisk walk or start running, but it was good and the kids enoyed it as well, especially as we walked passed and paused by the park. I am hoping they will come every evening, well I can hope cant I?

Have a good evening.

I hope everyone had a good bank holiday. I drank too much, I didnt get drunk but still had cider which I wanted to avoid. Ah well, back to it.

We have pulled pork tomorrow and am really excited, I love it. Lol

And hubby was looking at low carb recipes he can make :o does that mean he is joining me?

Hiya

I am sure you can wish on a shooting star for luck. Well both me and my daughter have 10 of them.

Here is the shooting stars on my daughters nails, which would have been easier to do if she stopped fidgeting.

And here are mine

You cant really seen in photos but the pale blue, in light turns sparkly pink. I love them, so pretty ;-)

Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend.

Hiya

I have not stopped the last few days, walked more, ate delicious food and crocheted.  Am trying to get a few sales on my facebook page to get a few pennies so been none stop crocheting.

Anyway, am still plodding along, not losing weight but have cut out alcohol now so hopefully next weigh in will be good. I have lamb on slow cooker for tea and lots of veg to go with it. Cant wait.

Still not started running but keep meaning to lol. If I dont lose with no alcohol I will have.

Have a good day

Yay Back to School......

Evening all

There are several reasons why I am plesed the kids are back at school.  Firstly I can clean and it stays clean and tidy, for a little bit anyway. Secondly we can get back into a routine, walking on school runs, dogs getting more structured exercise. And thirdly, and most importantly my lunch looks like this

And not burnt like this because I had to referee yet another fall out, and trust me, that was the good side

Anyhoo

B fruit salad with greek yoghurt
L chicken, cheese and onion omelette
T sausages with cheesey cauli and broccoli

Lots of walking today and hopefully rain will stay off for more tomorrow.

Am stuffed now.

Back On Track

Good evening

Yay, 1lb gone already. :D

B fruit salad with greek yogurt
L bbq, I had burger (no bun), pork belly, sausages, beef, turkey and loads of bbq veg
T still full from bbq. But I do have ham, chicken pieces and coleslaw in the fridge, as well as nuts and pork scratchings so will ge good

I have also managed 3 walks today. I did plan to go to beach and start the couch to 5k but my youngest came with me so we went to the park instead. And i had to wake the lazy dogs up for the 3rd walk! I don't think they are committed to me losing weight as much as I am ;-)

Sal x

Tuesday 15 April 2014

How Much!!!!!!!!

Evening all

So I weighed.  Wish I hadnt. I have put on 6lbs!!!!! I really hope some of that was from bloating, felt like I had a beach ball attached to my belly last night. Must try harder to lose now.

B - fruit salad with greek yogurt
L - picked at some of last nights left overs
T - bbq, I had salad, lots of bbq'd veg, belly pork, bit of beef and bit of turkey.

Hope my belly goes down, my jeans were feeling a bit tight today. Been considering the couch to 5k challenge. Will think about, but have heard good things.

Home Again

Hiya

We are now home. Had a lovely week and a bit away, ate lots of yummy (mostly low carb) food. I really enjoy eating fruit so will continue. I quite liked the drinking but that, however, will drastically reduce.  So weigh in tomorrow, i am sure I have put on weight but am hopeful its not too much. I did a fair bit of walking so that will help.

Today has been a bit bad, omelette for breakfast then nothing until tea which was lots of different party food. I did have a few chicken nuggets and spring rolls and onion rings but also had meat and salad. Although I am feeling rather bloated but am putting that down to the 2 platefuls I had :o

30 seconds, better than none

Evening all

As you may know from previous posts I have a boxer pupy and a 6 year king charles.  For about 2 weeks I have been walking them together on a double lead. Seperatl8 they are ok on lead, toghether they are not. Today we had a breakthrough, they both walked nicely together at the same time for 30 seconds. Will aim for a minute tomorrow lol

B - fruit with greek yogurt
L - bacon with tomato, cheese and onion omelette
T - had breakfast and lunch late so not eaten yet, will be having nuts later no doubt.

I am really loving the fruit, hadnt realised how much I missed it.

Sal x

Tuesday 8 April 2014

OMG! OMG! OMG!

Hiya

I have just had the best tea. I was given the recipe by a fellow low carber and netmum, Cheryl. It is broccoli and cauliflower cheese. Cook the broccoli and cauliflower,  drain, mix in salami or pepperoni and crumbled garlic and herb boursin, I used garic and herb philly and I mixed in half a chopped onion. When in oven dish cover with grated cheese and bake. Mmmmmmmmm delicious.

B - fruit salad with greek yogurt
L - tomato, onion, ham and cheese omelette
T - a rather sad looking gammon with the broccoli and cauliflower as above and here is a picture

I didnt even feel envious of the takeaway pizza the family just guzzled in front of me. And whilst hubby is moaning he has eaten too much, his belly hurts, I am feeling positively angelic.

Do try the recipe and if you have any variations to it, then do let me know.

Rain Stopped Play

Hiya

So it rained a lot today, we didnt go for our long walk and didnt really go out much at all. Its not meant to rain as much tomorrow so am hoping for lots of walks or at leadt one long walk.

B - huge fruit salad with greek yoghurt
L - ham and cheese salad
T - hunters chicken with peas and coleslaw

Not felt hungry today so maybe it was the walking yesterday rather than the fruit sugars making me feel hungry.

Night night

Fruit - Good or Bad

Evening

Due to still not losing that last half a stone I have decided to up my carbs and add fruit. Still only good carbs, well except a bit of wine ;-) and see if I put on and then after a bit maybe drop down again and see if I lose.

B - huge bowl fruit salad - apple, pineapple, melon, grapes, orange, strawberries
L - minted lamb chop with cabbage, onion, carrots and peas
T - ham with lettuce, tomato, coleslaw and cheese

And I am now going to have some cheese and apple and maybe a few nuts. Hungry today, maybe it was all the walks I went on or the fruit sugars. Hhhhmmmmmm

Rum has no carbs does it

Good evening

Funny old day.  Went to a new supplier for dog food today, for £20 I got 20lb minced with bone chicken, 10lb mince, 10lb tripe and 10lb chunks of steak, dogs eat better than us. And they gave us 5 huge livers for free and 4 huge bones with loads of meat on free. My dogs are very happy today lol although note to self, dont give bones on carpet as it will get covered in blood. I have cleaning to do tomorrow!!!!!

I have decluttered lots. And found out I didnt get the job I wanted. Maybe a time to change career......

B - tomato,  onion and cheese omelette
L - ham
T - chicken in a sweet chilli sauce with salad.

Was lovely.

Off to enjoy my rum and diet coke.

Never Trust A Skinny Chef

Evening

I know I am not fat, but neither am I skinny, I could do with losing that darned half a stone, but when I am this good at cooking and making blooming delicious desserts, that wont happen. I wasnt even planning on having any but could you resist this

B - berries with double cream
L - ham, cheese and tomato omelette
T - hunters chicken with salad and coleslaw and choc fudge pudding

Thankfully I have done quite a lot of walking and the pudding is now all gone so no more temptation, until I make it again ;-)

Not Surprising....

Hiya

I have put on a few pounds this week.  As I said before, hubby has been cooking so Monday we had posh burgers (with crackers in) and sweet potato chips, Tuesday as bbq honey pretzel chicken with potato rosti, Wednesday was a roast with lots of Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes and yesterday we had crispy honey chicken with potato and prawn toast.  I had to eat it as he did actually spend hours and hours cooking!  Shame he wasn't quite so good with the clearing up :o

Back on it now though and we are away so not sure how well I will do this weekend either.  But I will be doing lots of walking with my dogs.  The double lead I ordered hasn't arrived so will be individual walks all weekend.

Have a good one

Where Has This Week Gone

Evening all

So, tomorrow is Friday, I haven't stopped all week and cant believe its nearly the weekend.

I have eaten some really nice food this week, fake kebab, Spanish chicken (jar but I do now have recipe) and tonight was beef in red wine sauce.

I have had the breakfast casserole most mornings and omelettes or salad for lunch.

I have even walked more.

Tomorrow I am having bbq pulled pork with coleslaw and salad.  Not sure about Saturday as we have visitors so may have a takeaway.  There will also be a few glasses of wine, will try to steer clear of the cider though ;-)

Have a great weekend.

Carb Fest

Hiya

Ok so not exactly a carb fest but very high for me. Tea was the roast I should have done yesterday so I did endulge in the crispy stuck on the pan bits of roast potato's,  lots of parsnips and carrots, stuffing and even a bit of yorkie pud and then a bit more!!!!!!! Shock horror!!!!! Was nice though ;-)

B - omelette with lots of stuff in it
L - pork scratchings
T - as above and lovely it was too

Having cuddles with my baby

Lazy Day

Hiya

I am not the most energetic of people, I dont often want to clean but I do a fair bit every day if I think about it. Not today, I had a lie in then managed breakfast (mine as hubby doesnt cook eggs, he did the rest) then I made lunch and tea. Other than that I have not moved off the sofa, nothing washed, cleaned or hung up. Everyone deserves a day off occasionally, my husband gets enough!!!!!!!!

B - sausage, bacon, cheese and Onion omelette
L - pork scratchings
T - meat and cheese as I could just grab it out of fridge

So tomorrow I am working and catching up on what I should have done today plus everything I need to do tomorrow. Am beginning to wonder if it was worth it......

Traumatised!!!!!!

Evening all

Today chicken was on offer in Lidl. So off I went, got there early, got my six chickens (rearranged my freezer the other day) , got to till to be told only 2 so stepped to one side to message my mate to see if she was coming, and they swooped, like vultures, trying to take my chickens.  I then moved again and gave my spare ones away to nice polite people. The behaviour of some people is shocking and if we were not living on the dwindling redundancy money I dont think I would bother, but we are, so I do. Must remember to sharpen my elbows next week and join in the scrum with them, everyone for themselves..... or maybe give next week a miss.........

I dont know if it was the trauma of the Lidl trip or the chinese last night but I have only had tea today, chicken with salad. Having a glass of wine, note to self, no wine is better than cheap nasty wine - money saving gone too far again. I need to make my own, I have a home brew chardonnay kit that I havent got round to making. Need to make space and crack on with it. So next year then ;-) now, where's that lemonade.....

Have a good evening.

I've Only Gone and Done It!

Good Evening

I think I can now upload photos on my tablet.  We will see.....

B - I made my slow cooker breakfast. New slow cooker is the perfect size for me and my eldest. There were sausages, egg, bacon, toms and cheese and here it is

Whoo hoo it worked although big, I can live with that lol
L - still full from breakfast
T - sausage casserole with turkey sausages,  onion, sprouts and carrots and for a treat I added stuffing balls, naughy but nice

I have a portion of tea left, think I will freeze it as still have lots of chicken and gammon in fridge for next few days.

Time to start putting kids to bed, have a good evening.

Divine Apparently

Evening all

Is always nice to receive a compliment on my cooking and this morning my eldest told me my omelette smelt divine. How lovely of him and no I didnt share as it also tasted divine ;-)

B - chicken, spicy sausage, cheese and tomato omelette
L - celery sticks stuffed with pate and stilton (not both)
T - gammon with salad

I am really pleased with myself. Today I found a small slow cooker, ideal for breakfasts for me and my eldest, in a charity shop for £5. How perfect is that and it means I can make spicy mince for me when I make the kids bolognaise. Sorted!

I just hope I dont forget to make it!

The Munchies

Evening all

Right now I am struggling. I have the munchies and as I have kids who still have xmas choc left I am really finding it hard. Just had a pack of chilli lime nuts which were lovely but at around 13 carbs for a tiny bag it was a treat also still so much better than the copious amount of chocolate I want to eat. Maybe I will just go to bed lol

breakfast/lunch - huge chicken, cheese, spicy sausage  and onion omelette
tea - piri piri chicken with salad
Snacks - chilli lime nuts

I managed 2 walks today with a tiny bit of jogging on both.

Back to talking myself out of chocolate ;-)

I Give Up......

Evening all

After spending around an hour trying to upload the photo on either my phone or tablet, I have given up and turned the lappy on.

So, better late than never, here are the pictures of my scotch egg :D

So todays food

B - bacon, sausage and tomato & onion omelette again (not hungry for lunch)
T - roast chicken, broccoli, parsnip, carrot, sprouts and a little bit of stuffing (my treat)

I even managed a bit of a jog today, ok not really a proper jog, just trying to stop Ruby from jumping at my legs by jogging :D

I have prepared the chorizo meatballs for tomorrow so just need to chop a bit of veg, fry meatballs and onion and chuck it all in slow cooker before work.  Get me, organised :p

The Usual Scrum

Evening all

Its Saturday today so off to lidl I popped for half price mince, only 6 as I was alone, but the queue was unbelievable. I arrived at few minutes before the shop opened and there were 20 people in front of me. That then meant everyone pushing and shoving even though there was plenty to go around. So I waited for a space, I really have no intention of joining them, if I wanted to do that I would play rugby. And the worst thing, it's whole chickens half price next weekend. I will be sure to take a sleeping bag and turn up the night before!!!!!

Today's food

B - sausage, bacon and tomato and onion omelette
T - coated chicken with salad, naughty but nice

I even tried a long walk on the beach today to tire the kids and dog's out. The tide was in so we went to the park instead and it seemed so did everyone else

Still not worked out how to post photos from my phone but I have discovered everything I take on my phone appears on my tablet. That's pretty cool

Have a great weekend

other food for today was omlette, and omlette pizza for tea. Scotch egg was lunch and I have 1 left for tomorrow. And no I have not eaten enough veg, must do better tomorrow.

I Love Food

Hiya

I really do think low carb helps me enjoy my food more. I want to be eating delicious healthy food and not loads of chips and bread and then something with it.  I find I make more effort with meals and really want to enjoy eating it not see how much I can eat.  Really is quality over quantity now and even though I do have a few more pounds to lose I am happy with what I am eating

Yesterday I ate

B - cheese and ham omelette
L - turkey stir fry
T - chicken with salad with a spicy mayo

Today I have had

B - stilton omelette
L - Turkey and spicy sausage stir fry
T - beef with onion, peppers and mushrooms in tomato and red wine sauce with broccoli and carrots

It was gert lush and here is a photo

I have walked today although walking up and down the street trying to train Ruby I don't really count it.

I want to have a go at scotch eggs tomorrow.  Might get the sausage meat out now no I don't forget ;-)

Hopefully I will have a photo of that tomorrow.

Too Much Food and Drink :(

Hiya

We have had visitors for the last few days so lots of eating out (no chips for me), I did try to eat low carb but obviously it went a bit array and I have had a bit to drink.  So put on 3lbs.  But, hopefully, fingers crossed, that is just water and will be gone very shortly.  Back on it today.

B - grapes (still stuffed from last night)
L - ham and cheese salad
T - chicken with salad (sprinkled with stilton)

I have already been for a walk this morning, work this afternoon and 2 walks later is the plan.

What a day!  Decorating,  sorting clothes, storing a few shirts hubby didnt want for later use........

By the time we finished I just shoved a few things into oven not caring. I am actually surprised I am still awake now!

I cant wait for my life to go back to normality so I dont have the excuse to eat rubbish.

Have a good one.

Cold Did Not Help...

Evening all

Yesterday, well, the night before our heating stopped working, it was very cold.  Hubby fixed it yesterday morning (why he couldn't do it the evening before i don't know) but due to having 3 new radiators that weren't working the downstairs ones were turned off to push the pressure upstairs.  This was going on whilst our bedroom was getting fixed. So it got to 2.30pm, the living room temperature dropped to 14 degrees, I was wearing my fleece, puppy asleep on me and we were both covered in blanket as she was shivering  I requested the builder turn them back on.  I did not lose weight.  Maybe it was due to the many, many latte's and hot choc's I had to keep warm though!!!

We had pizza tonight due to it being Valentines tomorrow so me and my hubby will be having steak, and i put on it rocket leaves and shredded beetroot from a bag of salad I had.  It was quite nice, went crunchy but then I thought, by putting the pizza in the oven so cooking the salad, does that take away the nutrients then I thought, it if takes away the nutrients from salad will it from other roasted veg.  Something to google later I think!

Couldn't resist another photo of my baby

and here are my louboutin nails (need the shoes to match now)

But I felt they needed something so I blinged them

Promise to get back to low carb with hopefully some lovely low carb photos next time.

Even the dogs low carb.....

Hiya

Back again. And this time my dogs are joining me.  They have been put on a raw food diet which currently is ground up chicken with bones in.  They have to stay on this for a month and then I can start introducing different meat.  So far its going well. Rex, 6 year old cav, now eats everything I give him when he used to rarely eat normal dog food and Ruby the puppy also seems to be enjoying it far more than the other food. Its a bit gross for me but luckily they are both currently on same amount and one pack is one day worth of food. Another bonus, it costs 40p a day to feed both. This will gomup when Ruby is bigger bit stilll very cheap.

So back to me, still low carbing on a budget.  Although I think i have been a bit lazy with it as not writing it down.

so back to it

b - nothing bit too hungover
l - pork stir fry
t - in slow cooker smelling delicious peppered chicken with salad

I even walked the kids to school today. Am really looking forward to Friday when I can start walking Ruby as well.
